Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) is a process
where a flexible pavement and a predetermined
portion of the underlying materials are uniformly
crushed, pulverized or blended, resulting
in a stabilized base course. Additional stabilization
can also be achieved through the addition
of additives such as emulsion (as in CIR),
portland cement and mineral fillers.
FDR and Pulverizing is a low-cost way
to stabilize an existing base without
the cost involved in removing and replacing
it. In addition to roads, FDR is suitable
for industrial and commercial pavement
areas where the existing surface is too
fatigued or cracked to be milled and paved.
